SRM UNIVERSITY SEMINAR ON RECENT TRENDS IN SOUTH INDIAN LITERATURE ON 06.02.2017 & 07.02.2017

     A two day seminar on ‘Recent Trends in South Indian Literature’ began on 06.02.2017 today at 10.00 A.M. in SRM University, Dr. T.P. Ganesan Mini Hall – I, Kattankulathur. At the Inaugural session, Sahitya Akademi Secretary Dr. K. Srinivasa Rao welcomed the gathering. Convener for Tamil Advisory Board of Sahitya Akademi Dr. Ki. Nachimuthu, introduce about the activities of Sahitya Akademi.

     The session was presided by Dr.N.Gopi, Convenor, Souther Regional Board of Sahitya Akademi. Emenient Tamil writer Ashoka Mitran delivered keynote address. The founder chancellor of SRM University Dr. T.R. Paarivendhar was the Chief Guest. Felicitations were offered by Prof. Prahbir K. Bagchi , Vice-Chancellor, SRM University and Dr. T.P. Ganesan, President of TamilPerayam & Pro-vice Chancellor of SRM University, SRM Tamilperayam Secretary Prof. Karu.Nagarajan delivered Vote of Thanks.

     The first session was about recent trends in South Indian fiction. The Chairperson was Dr.C.Mirunalini, Telugu Literary Personality. Mr.R. Arul presented his research article on Tamil Novel in the after noon session was on Recent Trends South Indian Short Story the Chairperson was Tamil Writer A. Mangai. Papers on this topics were presented by Sridhar Balagar (Cannda), Payipra Radhakrishnan (Malayalam) & V. Ramakrishnan (Tamil)

On 07.02.2017 sessions will be on Recent Trends South Indian Poetry and literary criticism a chairperson C. Naganna (Kanadam) for the poetry session. Dr.B.Ravi Kumar (Tamil), T.P. Rajeevan (Malayalam) and S. Raghu (Telugu) will deliver the research articles.

The Chairperson for the session on literary criticism will be Rachapalem Chanderashekar Reddy, Mr. M.S. Raghunath (Canada), V. Radhakrishnan (Malayalam) and Abhilash Chandran (Tamil) will present the research articles. The valedictory session will be chaired by Prof. Ki. Nachimuthu. Valedictory address will be by eminent Tamil writer R.N.Joe De Cruz, S. Faustina Bama member, General Council will be Chief Guest. Dr. N. Sethuraman, Registrar of the SRM University will felicitate the function. Seminar Co-ordinator Prof. M.J.Rabi Singh is to give the Vote of Thanks.

Gaurav Gill primed for a wet APRC Rally

 With the onset of monsoon in this region, Team MRF’s Gaurav Gill, who needs a win here in the Malaysian Rally to seal the FIA Asia Pacific Rally Championship title, cautioned that the weather could hold the key to the outcome and “fireworks” of a different kind can be expected this Diwali weekend.

The two-day Rally commencing tomorrow, is the fifth and penultimate round of the FIA APRC and Gill, having won the previous four rallies, is poised to annex the title that he had last won in 2013. The sixth and concluding round will be held in Chikkamagaluru, India, on Dec 3-5.

 pre-event press conference here today to the accompaniment of thunder and heavy rains, opined that the wet weather will put to test the durability of both crews and their cars over the next two days.

Thursday’s mandatory reconnaissance run was all but a washout as portions of some Special Stages in the nearby palm oil plantations turned into mini rivers and unmotorable.

“Diwali is a big festival for us back home in India, but for me, the fireworks can wait until the Rally is over on Sunday afternoon. I wish everyone a happy and safe Diwali, and a prosperous year ahead,” said Gill who, like his team-mate Fabian Kreim of Germany, is driving the MRF Skoda Fabia ​R5.

On a more serious note, Gill, who leads Kreim by 42 points in the Championship,

: “It is going to be very tricky and difficult going since lots of rain is forecast for this weekend. So, it is not about just speed. We have to be careful.

“We have made a few changes to the car. After the Rally Hokkaido in Japan, we changed the engine and it still needs to be run in some more. We did some testing here on Wednesday and then today’s Shakedown, but we are settling in nicely.”

Kreim, fresh from winning the German championship last weekend, was as cautious and agreed that the Rally will not be so much about speed as driving sensibly.

“I have a very good feeling about our car after the test and we hope we can be as quick as Gaurav. Our car is better than what it was in the previous round in Japan. It is hot and the humidity is quite high. It is a different rally than all other APRC rounds and I think, it will be very challenging,” said Kreim.

This has been a dream of many of our great leaders but never before have we been so perfectly poised to realize it. Over the past two years, our nation has been gifted many new avenues and encouragement for inclusive growth. It is my dream to see my nation as one where my brothers and sisters are content and fulfilled in whichever environment they call home; villages, towns or cities. Where every Indian has equal opportunities of life and living, regardless of how un-urban their choice of home might be. BMW Group once again sector leader in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index.

 The BMW Group has once again been named the world’s most sustainable automotive company in the rating published today by RobecoSAM AG for the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes (DJSI). The BMW Group is also the only one of the three automobile manufacturers listed to feature in the renowned index every year since 1999.

“The BMW Group is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. For us, sustainability is an important part of our identity and our strategy. We have accomplished a great deal in recent years and continue to set ourselves concrete goals for the future. We are delighted to be named sector leader once again in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index. This shows that our activities continue to have an impact and we are on the right track,” according to Ursula Mathar, head of Sustainability and Environmental Protection at BMW AG.

Sustainability is firmly embedded in the BMW Group’s culture and corporate strategy. In 2001, the BMW Group committed itself to the United Nations Environment Programme, the UN Global Compact and the Cleaner Production Declaration. It was also the first company in the automotive industry to appoint an environmental officer back in 1973. Today, the Sustainability Board, comprising all members of the Board of Management, defines the strategic alignment through binding targets.

The BMW Group adopts an holistic approach, implementing sustainability throughout the value chain. In addition to reducing CO2 emissions, its strategy also focuses on achieving continuous progress in areas such as corporate environmental protection, supply chain sustainability, employee orientation and social commitment.

Between 1995 and 2015, the BMW Group succeeded in reducing the CO2 emissions of its new vehicles sold in Europe (EU 28) by 40 per cent. In 2015, its average CO2 emission across Europe (EU28) stood at 127 g/km and worldwide 147 g/km. Systematic expansion of alternative drive trains in the BMW fleet, combined with innovative mobility services have made a significant contribution to this progress.

Since July 2016, the BMW Group line-up has included seven models that are either all-electric, like the BMW i3, or combine a conventional engine with an electric motor as a plug-in hybrid. This signals the company’s clear commitment to sustainable mobility.

The BMW Group aims to be a leader in the use of renewable energy in production and value creation. 58 per cent of the electricity purchased by BMW Group worldwide already comes from renewable sources. The company operates four wind turbines at its Leipzig site, for example, which exclusively supply energy for production of the BMW i3 and BMW i8. Its American plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina, uses methane gas from a nearby landfill to generate up to 50 per cent of the power needed for production.

In 2015, the BMW Group also became the first automobile manufacturer in Europe to use a 40-ton electric truck for transporting materials on public roads.

A further goal of the BMW Group is to significantly increase transparency and resource efficiency throughout its supply chain by 2020. In this connection, around 1,900 supplier locations were evaluated for the first time using an industry-specific sustainability questionnaire in 2015. These evaluations are performed for all nominated, potential and active supplier locations.

Further education and training of employees remains another top priority for the BMW Group. In 2015, the BMW Group invested a total of € 352 million in further education and training programmes. The company also hired more than 1,500 apprentices worldwide. Around 4,700 young people are currently enrolled in vocational training and talent development programmes at the BMW Group, including more than 3,800 in Germany.

The BMW Group has also been involved in promoting intercultural exchange, both within and outside the company, for many years. In conjunction with the UN Alliance of Civilisations, the BMW Group presents the Intercultural Innovation Award to exemplary projects in this field.

The BMW Group is also promoting exchange between refugees classed as unaccompanied minors, local youth and BMW employees through the neighbourhood project “Lifetalk” at its Munich plant. The aim of the initiative is to give young people a better idea of possible career paths.

Both your  पर दादाजी’s gave your present surnames celebrated fame, dignity and recognition !

Both of you maybe a Nanda or a Bachchan, but you are also girls…women !

And because you are women people will force their thinking, their boundaries on you.

They will tell you how to dress, how to behave, who you can meet and where you can go.

Don’t live in the shadows of people’s judgement. Make your own choices in the light of your own wisdom.

Don’t let anyone make you believe that the length of your skirt is a measure of your character.

Don’t let anyone’s opinion of  who you should be friends with, dictate who you will be friends with.

Don’t get married for any other reason other  than you want to get married.

MRF MMSC FMSCI Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship – Round 3

 Jagan Kumar of Team TVS Racing came back strongly to win the second race of the premium Super Sport Indian 165cc category as the third round of the MRF MMSC FMSCI Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship concluded at the MMRT near here on Sunday.

Sarath Kumar of Honda Ten10 Racing finished second while R Deepak of RACR came third. Jagan, who had crashed in the first race on Saturday, continues to lead the championship table with 108 points.

In the Pro Stock 165cc category, Rajiv Sethu of Honda Ten10 Racing won Race 2 while Prabhu Arunagiri came second. Hari Krishnan R was third which helped him to maintain his lead on the leadernoard.

The Stock 165cc class race saw Joseph Mathew of Sparks Racing clinching a fine win after taking the lead in the very first lap as he pushed championship leader Antony Peter to second place.

Later, Soorya too overtook Peter, but the latter gained back his place and was running second behind Mathew for three laps. However, in the last lap Anish Damodara Shetty of United TechTorque Racing unleashed a sprint to take second place. He zoomed from P5 to P2 and edged out Peter to third place at the flag.

The participants of Ganesh 365 art exhibition were honoured by Gautami

The love for Great Lord Ganesh is keep on increasing throughout the world. In order to spread the glory of Lord Ganesh, Producer Vincent Adaikalaraj of the upcoming comedy-thriller MEOW has organised a grand art exhibition called GANESH 365 at Art Houz, Chennai on 27th August, 2016. It is to be noted that all the 365 paintings that portrays 365 avatars of Lord Ganesh were painted exclusively by School Children.... These talented children were honoured with certificates and shields on yesterday  which was given by Gautami, the founder of Life Again Foundation.

MRF MMSC FMSCI Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship – Round 3

 Meka Vidhuraj played a waiting game to pip table topper B Rajnikanth in the last lap for a thrilling win in the Suzuki Gixxer Cup (Open) as the third round of the MRF MMSC FMSCI Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship kicked off at the MMRT track on Friday.

Vidhuraj, hailing from Nuzvid near Vijayawada, started on P4, but took the lead after the first lap. However, he displayed controlled aggression and was waiting close behind the leader Rajnikanth in the last three laps and made a smart overtaking move on the back straight to take the lead and clinch his second win from five starts.

Later, in the TVS MMSC One Make Championship race for Novice riders, Apex Racing’s Yashas RL of Bengaluru chalked out a comfortable win while Hari Prasath R was a distant second, followed by Kamran Alam,.

Earlier, Jagan Kumar of TVS Racing took the pole position in the Super Sport Indian 165cc qualification with Rajini Krishnan of RACR in second and TVS Racing’s KY Ahamed in third.

In the qualification for Super Sport India 300cc to 400cc class, Rockstar Racing’s Ami Van Poederooijen of Auroville took the pole position with Abhishek V in second place and Ananth Raj P in third.

In the qualifying session for the Pro Stock upto 165cc, Honda Ten 10 Racing clinched the first two places on the front row with Rajiv Sethu edging out championship leader Harikrishnan R for P1. Kannan Karnan of Performance Racing qualified in P3 pipping Dinesh Kumar of RACR by a fraction of a second.

Amarnath Menon of RACR took the pole from PM Soorya of Team Speed-up Racing in the Stock upto 165cc class qualification and Joseph Mathew P of Sparks Racing clinched P3.

Sri Lankan Aaron Gunaderdan topped the qualifying session of the Gixxer Cup Novice class while Soorya PM of Chennai will start from P1 in the Honda CBR 150 Novice race.

​MRF MMSC FMSCI Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship 2016

 The heat is on as the competition intensifies with nearly 200 entries in fray, including several international riders, and 22 races scheduled for the third round of the MRF MMSC FMSCI Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship which gets underway at the MMRT track in Sriperumbudur, near here on Friday

The weekend fare includes races in the three main classes of the National Championship – the Super Sport Indian (165cc and 300-400cc), Pro-Stock 165 and Stock 165 – besides the MMSC One Make Championships for the three major manufacturers Honda (CBR 150 and 250), TVS (Apache RTR 200) and Suzuki Gixxer Cup.

The programme also showcases two support races in the Superbike (600-1000cc) category and two Ladies races by Honda and Alisha Abdullah Racing Academy. 

Much of the focus this weekend will be on the top-end Super Sport Indian class that has a combined grid of 300-400cc and up to 165cc bikes piloted by established riders, some of them like TVS Racing’s Jagan Kumar, Sarath Kumar of Honda Ten10 Racing and veteran Rajini Krishnan (Team RACR), with international experience.

Jagan heads the 165cc leaderboard with an 18-point lead over RACR’s Deepak Ravikumar. Behind the pair of front-runners, five riders are bunched tightly within 14 points of each other. TVS Racing’s Harry Sylvester leads this chasing pack ahead of Sarath Kumar, team-mate Kannan Subramaniam, Rajini Krishnan and young gun KY Ahmed (TVS Racing).

Another international rider Hari Krishnan of Honda Ten10 Racing heads the Pro-Stock category, having won all four races over the previous two rounds. Behind him are RACR’s Dinesh Kumar and Honda Ten10’s Rajiv Sethu, who like Hari Krishnan is a regular on the Asian circuit, with just one point separating them.

Coimbatore’s Antony Peter (RMC Racing) and Anish Shetty from Hubballi (United Tech Torque Racing) are within nine points of each other at the top of the Stock 165cc class which attracts first-timers and young, aspiring racers.

The three MMSC One Make Championships have proved to be very popular going by the huge number of entries and have produced keen competition in the previous rounds. It will be no less fierce this weekend with more than a handful of riders in contention for the championship titles.

The XIV CHENNAI DISTRICT MASTERS ATHLETIC MEET 2016 organized by Shenbaga Moorthy (President - CHENNAI DISTRICT MASTERS ATHLETIC MEET), Rukmani Devi (Treasurer and a Pole Vault Champion) and Sasikala (Secretary) was held on 28th August, 2016 (Sunday) at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Chennai.  Men & Women above the age of 35 yrs have actively participated in 100 M, 500 M…., 10000 M, Long Jump, High Jump, Triple Jump, Pole Vault, Javelin Throw, Discus Throw, Shot-put, Hammer Throw and 5 KM Walk. Athletes those who are selected in this District meet will be participating in State, National, Asian and World meet. 

Daisy Victor, an 86 year old energetic Woman has selected for World level Meet for her topping performance in 100 M Dash, Long Jump and Triple Jump. “35 is the starting age for Sugar, Blood Pressure and so on, but keeping our body fit will overcome those hurdles. We have participants from the age group of 35 and our senior most athlete is 100 years old. We are very much glad to see our most energetic Daisy has been selected for the 2016 World meet that is going to happen in Sydney…We still want to explore more talented elders from our Society and we are pretty sure that it will happen in the coming days…" says Shenbaga Moorthy, the President of CHENNAI DISTRICT MASTERS ATHLETIC MEET in a positive tone.
