Right from the beginning of Tamil Cinema our films have dedicated some songs for the common people who engaged in jobs which help to ease out our everyday life. MGR’s ‘Tharai Mel Pirakka Vaithan’ from ‘Padagoti’, ‘Kadavul Enum Mudhalaali’ from ‘Vivasaayi’ and Rajinikanth’s ‘Naan Auto Karan’ from ‘Basha’, ‘Vandhenda Paalkaran’ from ‘Annamalai’ are some of the well-known examples. And now, the upcoming film ‘Savarakkathi’ (Barber Knife) is all set to join the list by dedicating a special song for Barbers. Mysskin produced, written and also acted as the villain in this film coming from his ‘Lone Wolf Productions’. ‘Savarakkathi’ is directed by Mysskin’s younger brother and student G R Aathityaa. The song, which is named as the ‘Barber Anthem’ will be launched on 4th August, 2016.
The ‘Barber Anthem’ which starts as “Thangakkathi, Vellikkathi, Sembukkathi, Irumbukkathi, Savarakkathi Eedaaguma” is written and sung by Mysskin and composed by Arrol Corelli. “We wanted to dedicate a song for the Barbers who give us the beautiful look with their ‘Savarakkathi’ and that’s how the song shaped up. Razor sharp knives are used by criminals and others for assaulting people from ancient times. But there is one razor knife which is used to beautify people and that is ‘Savarakkathi’. We are releasing this song on YouTube and other Social Media on August 4th, 2016. Many ordinary people appear in the song video along with some of the important celebrities of Tamil. We are glad to say that this is the first ever song in the history of India which is dedicated to our barber brothers…” says GR Aathityaa, the director of ‘Savarakkathi’ in a confident tone.
