In a shocking incident, Pratyusha Banerjee, the 24-year-old actress who played Anandi in Balika Vadhu, the Hindi version of the country's most favorite TV series Chinnari Pelli Kuthuru, committed suicide by hanging herself at her house in Mumbai's suburban residential area Goregaon.
Pratyusha was rushed to the Kokilaben Ambani Hospital in Andheri but doctors declared her dead upon arrival. Police suspect 'personal reasons' as a motive behind her taking the extreme step and are investigating the matter.
Pratyusha had a fairly decent career as an actress and she was one of the highest paid actresses in the Hindi TV circuit. After starting her career with Balika Vadhu, Pratyusha also contested in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 5 and was one of the participants of Bigg Boss 7. She was last seen in Hum Hain Na as the main female lead.
In 2013, before entering Bigg Boss 7, Pratyusha was in news when filed an FIR against her boyfriend Makrand Malhotra. In January early this year, the actress filed a case of harassment by 8 fake policemen who tried to barge into her flat when she was alone.
