Apsara Reddy Denied Entry in Warship Citing 'No Transgender' Rule

journalist and TV host Apsara Reddy was allegedly stopped from entering a warship which was stationed at the Chennai port on Sunday. She was told by a security guard that ‘transgender people are not allowed into the ship’. According to The New Indian Express, she said that their car had entered through gate number 7 and they were very well treated by the CISF officials, but an officer called Shubh denied her entrance into the ship. When she asked the reason for denial, he said transgender people are not allowed. She wrote on Facebook, “Was invited for dinner onto a warship by a friend. She had it all planned. My ID says female but the marine Shubh says "no transgenders" at the entrance. I didn't want to fight and make a scene. But is this how our "forces" deal with diversity and difference?”Reddy feels that she was stopped to embarrass her. She also had an invite for the dinner. She also said that she will be writing about this to the human right commissions over the behaviour of two officers, Shubh and Ajay.
