With just three days left for the release of Superstar Rajinikanth’s ‘Kabali’, a few theatres which opened online bookings on Sunday midnight saw a mad scramble among fans to grab tickets for the first few shows. Rahul Jayasurya, an IT Professional from the city, said that he had been switching between a few websites where booking had opened after Sunday midnight to get tickets for the morning shows scheduled for Friday.
“I finally managed to get tickets for the morning show in Woodlands but it took over an hour, given the number of people who were trying to simultaneously book on this booking website which was catering to four different theatres,” he said. However, many fans like him are also looking forward to the early morning shows which many smaller theatres generally host. “These shows can be as early a 4 a.m. on Friday or even be scheduled for after 1 a.m. and are usually for the die-hard fans of the actor. Many of us block tickets for morning shows in multiplexes but also ensure that we catch one of the early shows as well for which tickets usually sell much closer to the release date,” said a member of a fan club for the actor. The multiplexes of SPI Cinemas too opened bookings at around 1 a.m. on Monday and the shows for the opening weekend were sold out soon, a few fans said. Bookings are yet to open in a few other multiplexes in the city and are expected to begin on Tuesday and Wednesday.
